161. VIN 2G51G175476, BODY 62B, COLOR H, TRIM 22, DATE 18D, DSO 35, AXLE 9, TRANS 5
Options: It was ordered pretty much with the standard options except for the except for the engine, transmission and 4:11 rear end.
Comments: I am the original owner of this car and raced it in the 60's.  It has been sitting since the middle 70's and I am in the process of doing a complete restoriation - body off the frame etc.  It should be done by late August 06 and then I can submit some current pictures.  Submitted by Chuck Stacey, 07/09/2006.

Options: Pwr. windows, air conditioning, AM radio
Comments: I believe this car is in original condition.  There is some question as to whether parts of it have been repainted, but I am not an expert.  It has just over 60,000 original miles.  The chrome is in perfect condition.  There are a couple of road dings, as this car has been driven.  The interior is in great shape, with a small seperation of the seam in the middle of the back seat, which is being repaired.  The only problem I have encountered is the right front door doesn''t open from the inside.  We have all original books and tags that show how to operate the air conditioner, heater, etc.  The driver's visor still has the paper wrapper around it.  The brake booster is off the vehicle but we still have it.  It runs fantastically.  We are the third owner of this vehicle.  The car is currently up for sale.  Submitted by Shirley Wilson, 07/11/2006.

Options: Radio
Comments: Im a 14 year old and my mom and dad bought it for me for a first project.  It is a rust free North Dakota car and is in great shape.  The person we bought it from drove it from Fargo, ND to Alexandria, MN which is about 120 miles and it ran good the whole way.  I have a year and a half to finish it.  Im planning to paint it a dark purple with a white/ silver roof.  Submitted by Jordan, Jim, Lori, and Neil Johnson, 07/13/2006.

164. VIN 2E51V241266, BODY 62B, COLOR blank, TRIM 92A, DATE 11G, DSO 15075, AXLE 6, TRANS 2
Comments: Talk about basic!  This 1962 sedan has zero options!  I don't know the history of this car for certain, but I was told it was a police car in the Granville, NY area.  It has holes cut in the deck lid for lights and a hole in the roof for a radio antenna.  It also has triangles of reflective tape stuck to the back panel.  The story goes that it was in an accident in 1968 and has sat since.  The impact occurred on the left door, fender and rocker panel.  The door pillar got pushed in and the door was pushed rear ward into the quarter panel.  I would view this car as eligible for donating parts..anyone need a 223 engine?

I am hoping you can help with the decode.  The paint code is blank which makes sense considering the car was probably part of a fleet order.  This is also indicated by the special DSO.  The color is an attractive dark blue and I would like to determine whether it is a Ford mixture.

The other decode item to look at is the trim code. It does not appear on your list. Since the car was built very late, is it possible that newer styles were added?  The interior is not complete but is two tone blue with what looks to be typical Ford cloth and vinyl.  Submitted by Lars Severance, 07/19/2006.

Comments: Would like to know what DSO decodes to.  I would like to know production figures on these cars and also the date they started producing the 406's.  Submitted by Anthony, 08/16/2006.
Email: anthony@hispeedcustoms.com
Registry Note: The exact date that the production of the 406 cars was started is as yet unknown, but was late Feb. or early March of 1962.  With a date code of February 27, 1962 this rare Galaxie has got to be one of the first G code cars produced.  The number of 1962 G code cars produced remains unknown.  There were 87,562 Club Victoria 2 door hardtops produced.  The 71 in the DSO codes to Los Angeles.  The remaining 4 numbers indicate special order items, and that was probably the 4.11:1 axle.  Maybe more items were included in the order and that can be verified by studying the build sheet.  The DSO and the build sheet, a very valuable paper, document this as one of a very few special order G code 1962 Galaxies.
