Comments: I found this car at a local salvage yard. With a straight body
and all good glass, I wasn't about to let this one go to the crusher. So,
I did some trading and brought it home. The tag shows it to have a 2V 352
and 3.00 gears. I found it to have a 4V 390 and 4.11 gears. Presently, I
am using this one for parts. Submitted by Brian Spaeth, 01/31/2007.

Comments: This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 4 door hardtop is from Nashville, Tennessee.
It has a rebuilt 312 Thunderbird engine only 3300 miles. New tires,
New dual exhaust, painted Viper Red 4 years ago. It is speculated that
this car was once owned by country singer Lynn Anderson (I never promised
you a rose garden) but as yet there is no documentation to support that claim.

Comments: A friend of mine brought me a packet of printed pages he had gotten from
your web site so I thought I'd give it a visit. I was interested in the story about your first Galaxie.
I, too, am the proud owner of Henry's pride and joy for '62. My baby is a Galaxie Sunliner convertible. Dark
blue. White top, with blue and white interior and a 352 under the hood.
My car has been in my family since 1965. Dad bought it used from an agent
of his who had bought it new in Leominster, Massachusetts. I was just 16
and getting my license. I drove the car all through high school then went away to the" flat lands"
of Ohio for college. The car was well taken care of by my mother and
sister for two years. Being a pragmatic New Englander my father must have
gotten tired of paying for plane fare between Massachusetts and Ohio, so
he made me a deal I couldn't refuse. If I would pay to have the brakes
fixed and front end "tightened up" he would give me the car. This is in
the summer of 1969, so Id be able to drive the "Bearmobile", as it came to
be known, back to college in the fall. I drove it the for the remaining
two years of school, got married in it, went on my honeymoon in it, drove
my wife to the hospital for our first child in it...wow, the things I've
done in that car!!
After moving to Northeast Ohio and using the old girl
sparingly, I put her in a garage waiting for the day I could fix her up.
That day has finally come. A year ago I began dismantling that same '62
Sunliner. The frame is now out from under the body and almost ready to be
sandblasted. People tell me I'm crazy, that I could buy one "just like
it" for a lot less than I'll have in finishing this one. Guess they
don't understand the sentimental value in restoring THE car I used to
drive in high school. It must take a true car nut to understand that feeling.
Sorry for rambling. I just really wanted to tell you I'm glad I found
your registry, and I'll probably be using some of the valuable information I've found.
Thanks for your interest in old cars and '62 Galaxies in particular.

Comments: Car is in very good condition, driven on a regular basis, drive interstate to work
at times, have updated to disc brakes, updated suspension front and back, fitted
alternator, halogen head lights, had complete suspension and brake overhaul. Drives treat,
family loves the car. Would like to update steering box to a later model any ideas?
Have owned this car for about 7 years. Bought it from a guy who imported it about ten
years prior. It had Colorado collecter plates on it 40B88. Said it was a one owner car.
After I bought it I did an undercarriage resto and up date. Car resides in
Melbourne, Australia.

Options: Power Steering
Comments: This car has been in the family since the late 60s. First my
brother owned it. When he decided to sell it, dad bought it and started
fixing it up. Then it set in a barn for 14 years. When he decided to sell,
we bought it. We painted the body, put on a new top, rebuilt the engine
and had the trans rebuilt and seats recovered. We enjoyed it for several
years. Then it was put in the barn for 11 years. Don't ever try to
protect a stored vehicle by covering it with a plastic tarp, it holds in
moisture bad. As of April 2007 it is back in my shop for another resurection.

Comments: Original toploader 4 speed has been replaced by a race-prepped
C6. Original 406 tri-power supposedly now contains many power updates
including a roller cam. Very, very healthy sounding. Purchased the car
several years ago at GoodGuys in Indianapolis. Previous owner had planned
to campaign the car in Nostalgia SS class. Car is currently wearing black
paint, and original front seat has been replaced with a drag bucket. Car
is very straight and solid with the exception of some rust in the bottom
of the doors and rear quarters. A real survivor. Pictures will be
submitted at a later date.
