December 13, 2007Well, I did pretty good at keeping busy on the car in July, but once again it got put on the back burner. I did get the chassis pretty much done with only some very minor things left. I moved it back to the garage and put the body on the rotisserie and moved it from the garage to the pole barn to get ready to start on the body work. That was in August. I had to put it on the back burner so I could get my 63 Galaxie in roadworthy condition. That took quite a while, but now it runs great and I can drive it when necessary. It still needs a few minor things, but I can get back to that later. After that was done I ended up buying a 66 Mustang driver. I have been working on getting it roadworthy for the last several weeks and will soon be done with that also. Hopefully sometime in January I will be able to start fixing the rust on the 62 Galaxie. I am chomping at the bit to get back to work on the 62 and I hope the cold weather doesn't make me not want to work on it. My goal is to have all the body work done and ready for paint by the summer of 2009. We'll see if I reach that goal. The picture on this page shows how the floor has rusted through where the body mount is on the passenger side just in front of the passenger seat. There are at least three other mounts that are rusted the same way. That is one of the reasons that I decided to do a complete frame off restoration on the car. |
